This is a workshop. Come to think, play, and take chances. Each week, the audience will be given an assignment for the following week. Highly recommended for those interested in applying for the Creative Incubator grants.

Led by Angel Rodriguez , Executive Director of the Empowerment Group, where he works to accelerate economic growth by cultivating local entrepreneurship – both nonprofit and for profit.

Schedule:

Saturday, February 4: T-FAR/ Success Mindset:  Participants explore ways to think about business, debt, money and work, and learn how thoughts influence action and result.

Saturday, February 18: Target Market:  Participants refine business ideas, identify target markets, and learn to shape marketing messages. They develop market surveys and begin the process of customer analysis.

Saturday, February 25: Cash-flow Management:  Participants learn the basics of business bookkeeping by playing a game designed to teach the fundamentals of cash flow and accounting. A case study is examined to teach the best practices used to manage business finances.

Saturday, March 3: Creating a Feasibility Plan:  Participants create written feasibility plans in order to examine whether a business is a “go or a no-go.” As part of this exercise, they present rough drafts of a final, oral presentation.

Saturday, March 17: Presentation Skills:  Participants present their business ideas to the class and to a panel of observers. In addition to practice presenting, they learn the craft of a business presentation: how to be clear, consistent, concise and compelling.
